LaLone, Noble Robert; age 87; of Alma; passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Masonic Pathways. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at St. Vincent DePaul Church in Shepherd at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd. There will be a Scripture Service Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Robert “Bob” LaLone was born on May 22, 1926 in Rosebush, Michigan to Leo and Pearl (Ervin) LaLone. He married Ruby Genevieve Claybaugh on December 8, 1944. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. Robert served in the Army
from 1945 to 1947. He served overseas in Okinawa. Bob followed in his father’s footsteps and started hauling milk in 1944. He progressed from hauling milk by cans to bulk tanks. Bob was an active member of the MMPA for over 60 years. After many successful years hauling milk, he had a vision of owning his own truck stop. At the age of 65 when most men are thinking of retiring, Bob made his vision a reality and built Petticoat Junction Truck Stop in Alma, Michigan in May 1987. He also drove a school bus for Shepherd Public Schools. Throughout the years, he was a sponsor and coach of many little league baseball teams. Bob and Ruby enjoyed many years together traveling the United States either by motorcycle or motorhome. He was an avid deer hunter. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Bob is survived by his wife, Ruby and six children, Kay (LaLone) Adams of Riverdale, Penelope (LaLone) Burlison of Lakeview, Duane and Kay LaLone of Alma, Gloria LaLone of Pensacola, FL, Darwin and Colleen LaLone of Lowell, and Douglas and Sue LaLone of Shepherd. Bob is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, Danny and Kimberly (Adams) Castellon, Mike and Kris (Adams) Peterman, Kevin and Angie Adams, Trevor and Adrianne Burlison, Anthony and Brooke Burlison, Bryan and Jenefer LaLone, Bob and Lori (LaLone) Kade, Chad and Leesha (LaLone) Eaton, Ryan and Lindsay (LaLone) Storey, Molly Dar LaLone (Ryan Kuiper), Courtney and Laura LaLone, Casey and Andrea LaLone. There are 25 great grandchildren, Derek, Amanda and Allissa Castellon, Jeff, Jordan and Jared Peterman, Justin, Klinton and Travis Adams, Ava and Leah Burlison, Reese and Kinley Burlison, Tyler and Izabelle LaLone, Brandon, Joie and Kaitlyn Kade, Maya Eaton, Paisley (LaLone) Kuiper; Emalyn and Alayna LaLone, and Kendal, Evan and Cade LaLone. He also is survived by his brother, Morval; brother-in-law, Orville (Lillian) Claybaugh; sister-in-law, Ida Holp.
