Ralph "Pete" Raymond Sandel, age 84, of Elwell, MI, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma, MI.
In accordance to Pete's wishes, there will be no Funeral Services. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Alma, MI.
Pete was born in Elwell, Michigan, on November 18, 1929, the son of Harold E. and Macy (Catron) Sandel. Pete married Sally Cross-MacInnes on September 6, 1950; she preceded him in death on June 26, 1998. He then married Carrie Curtis on April 12, 2007, in Las Vegas, NV. Pete was a lifelong resident of Elwell, MI. He served his country in the U.S. Navy
as a Navy Corpsman who provided healthcare in the military. Pete retired from Total Refinery after many years of service. He loved to farm his land, and after retirement, he earned his CNA certificate and worked at Wilcox Health Care Center in Alma. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Pete loved a good Western movie and the Sportsman's Channel.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie Sandel of Elwell, MI; two daughters, Terry and Ronnie Welch of Elwell, MI, and Traci Sumner of Elwell, MI; five grandchildren, Michelle and Joshua Lippert of Naples, FL, Peter Hayward of Elwell, MI, Alynne Welch of Elwell, MI, Mark Sumner of Breckenridge, MI, and Matt Sumner of Alma, MI; eight great grandchildren; brother, Jack Sandel of Elwell, MI; and parents-in-law, Donald and Joann Curtis of Perrinton, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sally; and brother, James Sandel.
