Dr. Jon J Pavlisko, "Skipper", 71, a 15- year resident of McAllen, TX, passed away amongst family and friends on Friday August 23rd, 2013 succumbing to a short battle with cancer.
Dr. Pavlisko was born on September 11, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He traveled around the country obtaining his bachelor's degree in Wheeling, West Virginia at West Liberty State College, his Masters degree in Richmond, KY at Eastern Kentucky University, and his PhD at University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Jon spent 12 years in Mt Pleasant, MI at Central Michigan University as an Assistant Baseball Coach and Professor of Kinesiology. In 1982, he took the position as head baseball coach at Miami University in Oxford, OH, where he lead the Redskins to a MAC Championship in his first year, earning Coach of the Year Honors.
Dr. Pavlisko was a baseball enthusiast, avid cyclist and dedicated to mentoring his students.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Francis and Carmella DeLucia Pavlisko of Pittsburgh, Pa; his wife, Kathleen Armbrecht Pavlisko; his sister-in-law, Louisa Larson; his brother-in-law, Richard Molinari; his daughter-in-law, Nicole Loseth Pavlisko.
He is survived in death by his brothers, Richard P. (Norma) of Pittsburgh, PA, Marie Ferraro of Georgetown, TX and Frank P. (Debbie) of Nutley, NJ; Sheridan Molinari of Westlake, OH. His sons, Chris P. (Renee) of Maineville, OH, Cory P. (Alice) of Los Angeles, CA, and Todd P. (Rebecca) of Chicago, IL. His grandchildren, Taylor, Andrew, Zachary and Ryan; and his nieces, Kristin, Stephanie, Abby, and Jenna; his nephew, Marc.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday August, 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 306 S. 15th St. McAllen, TX. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice Compassionate Care Services, LLC of Mission, Texas.
