Thomas Trimmer Obituary
Thomas was born July 6, 1941 in Lansing the son of Theodore and Claribelle (Miller) Trimmer. On August 7, 1965 he married Margaret Harper in Perry, Michigan. He served in the United State Air Force and worked for the State of Michigan for many years in their Job Services Division, helping many veterans and elderly find jobs.
Thomas attended the Episcopal Theological Seminary in Kentucky and was ordained a Deacon at the Whitaker School of Theology in 1979. He worked with the Episcopal Peace Fellowship and the Fellowship of Reconciliation. Thomas traveled much of Central American volunteering with the United Nations as an Election Observer and worked in the Peace and Justice Department under President Clinton. Thomas worked with the Bridge Center for Racial Harmony in Saginaw, working with police and FBI. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Alma.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Margaret of Alma, three children, Ted Trimmer of Alma, Kimberly (Scott) Winnie of St. Louis and Jennifer Trimmer of Alma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Linda Trimmer and a brother, Robert Trimmer.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 2pm at St. John's Episcopal Church in Alma with Rev. Mary Delaney presiding. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1 pm until the time of services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church.
