Michael Fitzpatrick, 46, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, at home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes presiding and Deacon Jim Damitio assisting. Mike's ashes will be interred in Calvary Cemetery following the Mass.
The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour prior to Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Fitzpatrick family to help further the education of Mike's children.
Mike was born Sept. 11, 1964, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Charles J. and Nancy K. (Joslin) Fitzpatrick. A 1982 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Mike married Nora Lee Natzel on May 24, 1986.
He owned and operated MF Enterprises. He was a good athlete and shared his talents by coaching Sacred Heart's Varsity Golf Team and JV Football team. He also coached basketball and Rocket football. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing. Mike will be remembered as a father who loved his children, his family and a person who was fun loving, friendly and outgoing.
Mike is survived by his two children, Christopher Fitzpatrick and Kaitlin Fitzpatrick, both of Mt. Pleasant and their mother, Nora Lee Fitzpatrick; parents, Charles and Nancy Fitzpatrick of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Kelly (Dan) Thomas of Grand Rapids, Kathy (Shawn) O'Mara of Grand Rapids, and Meighan Fitzpatrick of St. Clair Shores; maternal grandmother, June Fitzpatrick of Mt. Pleasant; nieces and nephews, Logan and Jacob Thomas and Donovan, Madelyn, Connor and Caden O'Mara; special friend, Dawn Peddie of Mt. Pleasant and her children, Hunter and Logan Buczkowski; and numerous aunt and uncles.

Family and friends of Mike. The loss of Mike has caused many tears to be shed. But as we remember Mike, those tears soon turn into smiles and laughter while we share the many ways Mike has touched each of our lives. As we reflect on the gift Mike was to us, may we be led to see the gift we are to each other. I pray for the Lord to strengthen each of us. May we support each other in this time of need, encourage each other by the words we share, and seek the Lord's peace through such troubling times.

I was devastated to hear Fitzy is gone. I pulled out a bunch of old home movies of us in the 80's and 90's last night and relived some of the best times of my life. I could go on and on about what a great guy he is but y'all already know that! I still use the driver he built me years ago.
