Gladys L. Brown, age 90, passed away December 19, 2011 at Rosebush Manor, where she has been a resident since. 2006.
Gladys was born February 16, 1921, in Colfax Township, Mecosta County, the daughter of Clyde and Ida Bowman. Gladys graduated from Big Rapids High School. On November 24, 1938, she married Glenn J. Brown who preceded her in death on September 24, 1996. Gladys was a caring mother, grandmother, and a friend to many.
Gladys is survived by her children, Donald (Bonnie) Brown of Florida, Michael (Joanne) Brown of Big Rapids, David (Donna) Brown of Mt. Pleasant, William (Sharon) Brown of Mt. Pleasant, and Glenda Jo (Thomas) Pohl of Beal City; seventeen grandchildren and thirty eight great grandchildren; her sister, Patricia (Gerald) Johansen; a brother in law, Doyle (Esther) Brown; sisters in law, Violet Bowman, Wilma Bowman, Marjorie Snider, and Alice Brown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Timothy Brown; her sister, Eileen Monigue; six brothers, Maurice Bowman, John (Jenny) Bowman, Clyde Bowman, Jr., William Bowman, James (Berta Lou Griffin) Bowman, and Robert (Ann) Bowman; two brothers in law, Harris Brown and Rayfield Snider; and a sister in law, Marilyn Spear.
Memorial services celebrating the life of Gladys Brown will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Weidman United Methodist Church with Pastor David Price officiating. A gathering will follow in the church Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Rosebush Manor Benevolence Fund, 4210 East Rosebush Road, Rosebush, MI 48878 or at Rowley Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
