C. Howard Richardson Obituary
RICHARDSON, C. HOWARD III; age 88; of Mt. Pleasant; passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Bay Special Care Hospital in Bay City. Funeral Services for Howard will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. A Luncheon will follow at the church. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church for the next food truck. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and First Presbyterian Church. Howard was born on February 23, 1926 in Washington D.C., the son of Charles H. and Eva (Hoff) Richardson, Howard proudly served his country in the United States Navy during W.W.II. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Iowa State in Ames, IA, Master’s Degree from University of Iowa in Iowa City, and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE. Howard married Norma Hoffman on August 21, 1954 in Bayside, NY. Howard was a Professor of Geography at Central Michigan University, retiring in 1998. Along with teaching, Howard was a member of the Association of American Geographers, the Conference of Latin-American Geographers, and was an elder and deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant. Howard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma; children, Gregory Paul (Ruthie Grafham) Richardson of Wheaton, IL, and Thomas Charles Richardson of Saltville, VA; two grandchildren, TJ and Katy and their mother, Janet Sweet Richardson. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jeanette Richardson and Adelaide Miller.
