Darrel M. Gerred Obituary
Gerred, Darrel M.; passed away April 20, 2014 at his residence. Darrel was a Vietnam Veteran and received the Purple Heart. He is survived by his son, Wade; brothers, Marion (Vivian) Gerred Jr., Larry (Deb) Gerred, and Mike Gerred; sisters, Barbara McGuire, Cheryl Lombard, Jeri (Glenn) Sibert, Patty (Carson) Nokes, Bonnie (Russ) Stark and his loving companion Mari Anne Ryder; several nieces, nephews, and my grand nieces, and grand nephews. Darrel was preceded in death by his son, Ricky; his parents, Marion Sr. and Alice Gerred; two brothers, Huse and James and one brother-in-law, Gerald McGuire. Darrel was a proficient bowler, having many 300 games to his credit and an avid golfer. He played baseball for Riverdale and in later years umpired at several places for years. He was a prior co-owner of Ghost Town Saloon. You could find him most mornings having coffee at Riverdale Tavern. The family appreciates all the great care he received from Hospice of Gratiot County. A Private Graveside ceremony will be attended by family. A Celebration of Life dinner will be held at the St. Louis Church of Christ on M-46, Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice.
