Feb. 19, 1932-Mar. 19, 2013
James "Jim" Charles English, age 81, of St. Louis, MI, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Jim's family will receive visitors at the Dewey Funeral Home in Alma on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Fr. James W. Bessert will lead us in a celebration of Jim's life.
Jim was born to Marion and Cora (Risk) English on February 19, 1932. On November 9, 1952 Jim married the love of his life, Janice O'Boyle in Alma. Together they had two children, Cheryl and Jeff. Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked for Consumer's Power for approximately 40 years. Jim enjoyed his lifetime membership in the Alma Elk's Lodge.
An avid fisherman and hunter Jim loved the outdoors. He enjoyed family time, especially his four beautiful granddaughters. Jim never met a stranger, always had a story to tell and brought life into every circle. Dancing floors will never be the same; he is now dancing in heaven.
Surviving Jim are his wife of sixty years, Janice; his daughter, Cheryl (Tom) Drumm of Hastings; his son, Jeff (Jill) English of Grand Haven; four granddaughters, Heather (Matt) Toburen, Danielle Drumm, Carlen English, and Lauren English; and two brothers, Dick (Gail) English and Terry (Janet) English.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Louis Sports Boosters or to the Alma Elk's Lodge.
The family is being served by the Dewey Funeral Home of Alma.
