James Wesley DeLong, age 83, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Maplewood of Mt. Pleasant.
A Funeral Mass for Jim will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Loren Kalinowski officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 24, 2013, from 3:30 to 8 p.m with a Vigil for Jim at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service at the church, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or to the . Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church during services.
Jim was born on March 28, 1930, in Laingsburg, MI, the son of George and Bertha (Nelson) DeLong. Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military services, Jim owned and operated DeLong Construction for over 42 years, retiring in 1991. Jim married Anne Trussell on September 1, 2007.
Jim is survived by his wife, Anne; daughters from his first marriage with Lorena (Fuhrhop) DeLong, Lu Ann (Steven) Ramer and Jean DeLong, both of Saginaw; step-daughters, Patty (Paul) Donakowski of Baytown, TX, Mary (Don) Curry of Yorktown, VA, Sue (Jim) Gardner of Brighton, MI, and Debbie (Mark) Minelli of Mt. Pleasant; 3 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 11 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Betty) DeLong of Owosso; sisters, Frances (Max) Ross of Owosso, Verla (John) Roberts of Lake, and Beverly (James) Woods of Flint; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane and Don; and sisters, Madeline Minear, Lucy Perrina, Wanda Traczyk, and Lorraine Conklin.
