Marjorie E. Harris (Mastic), age 78, of Naperville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at her home. She was born January 31, 1935 in Saginaw, MI. Mrs. Harris earned her bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and later her master's degree and worked on her doctorate at
Michigan State University
. She had taught high school in the Saginaw, MI area and later was an associate professor in foods and nutrition at Northern Michigan University and Central Michigan University. Mrs. Harris was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville where she served on the Guild. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and flower gardening. Mrs. Harris was also a skilled seamstress. She made her own wedding dress and that of her bridesmaid, her sister.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel W. Harris, and her son, William Harris; one brother, Leroy (Phyl) Mastic, and a sister, Shirley (Jack) O'Connor; she was a fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Harris; and her parents, Leroy and Velma (nee Haller) Mastic. A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home and Crematory, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, 1 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1550 Modaff Rd. Naperville. Visitation at the church from noon until the time of service. Interment Naperville Cemetery. Memorials in Marjorie's name may be made to the church for the new addition or a
