Marlin "Spike" Alexander Kerr, age 77, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Spectrum Hospital Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids.
Funeral Services for Marlin will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dan Currie officiating. Interment will follow in the Coomer Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, October 11, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Michigan Pregnancy Service or to Doctors Without Borders. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Marlin was born on February 19, 1936 in Wyandotte, MI, the son, Alexander and Ruth (Maston) Kerr. Marlin proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, altering his birth certificate to enter 3 years early. He married Dorothy Asher on March 26, 1955 in Wyandotte. Marlin is a follower of Jesus Christ and a believer of the bible. He attended Boone Baptist Church while living in Mesick. While in Mt. Pleasant he loved the people at the First Baptist Church and the Central Michigan Free Methodist Church. He has a beautiful Irish tenor voice and grew up singing around the piano in his home and in church.
Marlin is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Terry (Renita) Kerr, Deborah (William) Yeagley, Marlin Randall Kerr, and Jeffrey (Chris) Kerr; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, William Kerr; and brother-in-law, Bill Behm.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathleen Behm and Elsie Mackenzie; brother, Allen Kerr; and sister-in-law, Helen Kerr.
