Wayne was born on April 14, 1921 in Medford, MN to Ralph and Ruth Beardsley Hayes. Wayne was raised on a farm which instilled in him a strong work ethic. Upon graduation from high school, Wayne attended Business College in Minneapolis, MN and subsequent to graduation from college accepted a position with International Harvester Company. Wayne worked as a sales manager for International Harvester for 26 years. Wayne was a devoted Christian and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He had many interests and hobbies which included camping, fishing, golfing, swimming, watching and attending sports, building and collecting trains and tractor collections, and mostly importantly spending time with his family and friends.
