William G. "Bill" DeVore, age 81, of Alma, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. He was born July 6, 1931 in Lansing the son of Ralph and Fanny (Crego) DeVore. On June 27, 1970 he married Dorothy Bissell in Edmore.
Bill graduated from high school and went on to earn a Bachelor Degree in Police Administration from Michigan State University. Bill married Susan C. Willis in 1951 and together they had four children. He worked for the State of Michigan as a State Liquor Control Inspector for 35 years, retiring on April 1, 1990. He was a member of the First Church of God in Alma. Bill enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, especially his game "Bill Wins." He loved time spent with his family most of all.
Bill is survived by his wife Dorothy of Alma, six children, Pamela DeVore of Madison, Wisconsin, Lauri (Gary) Nielsen of Lakeview, Robin (Craig) Swenson of Gooding, Idaho, Timothy DeVore of Chicago, Illinois, Scott (Joy) DeVore of Toledo, Ohio and Amy (Rob) Lott of Alma, 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Susan and two brothers, Ralph and Neil DeVore.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God with Pastor Steve Wimmer officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mid-Michigan Home Care/Hospice.
