William "Bill" Lee Peterson
March 22, 1960-March 18, 2013

William "Bill" Lee Peterson, age 52, of Edmore, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013, in Newberry, Michigan while clearing snow off of their cottage roof with his wife. Bill was born on March 22, 1960, in Alma, Michigan, the son of Lee Robert and Janet Virginia (Swetnam) Peterson.
Bill was raised in the Edmore area and graduated from Montabella High School with the class of 1978. He furthered his education at Central Michigan University and Michigan State University, obtaining a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Crops and Soil Science in December 1982. On November 21, 1987, he married Ileen Ann Himebaugh in Lansing, Michigan. November, 2012, the couple celebrated 25 years of marriage.
Bill was employed in agriculture, farming the family farm, R and W Peterson Farms of Edmore and he was also a self-employed welder/fabricator. He enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt bike riding, welding (which turned into a career), bow hunting, farming, shopping and selling on E-Bay and Craig's List, and spending time with his family. Bill and his sons spent hours together cutting and splitting wood, working on trucks, and snowmobiling. Bill was a lifetime member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore and served on the Finance Committee for the church. He also was a member of the Home Township Zoning Board and a member of the Polaris Ranger Club.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ileen; their two sons, Nathan Lee, age 20 and Ryan William, age 16 of Edmore; his parents, Lee and Janet Peterson of Edmore; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Himebaugh of Lansing; a sister, Janet Lynn (Gary) Thornsbury of Haslett; a brother, Robert Jon (Jane Hansen) of Edmore; and a brother and sister-in-law, Pamela (Thomas) Moore of Lansing; brother-in-law, Max Himebaugh, Jr. (Lisa Vance) of Carson City; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Max Himebaugh, Sr.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Bill's life has been scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church, 833 South First Street, Edmore with Pastor Michael A. Riegler officiating. The family will receive the love and support from family and friends at a Visitation scheduled for Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel, 413 E. Gilson Street, Edmore. An additional Visitation will take place on Friday morning 1 hour prior to the service (10 to 11 a.m.) at the church. Interment will be in Vinewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill's honor can be made payable to the Montcalm Area Career Center Welding Technology Program or the Michigan Snowmobile Association.
