Betty J. Bay, age 71, of Clare, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the Mid Michigan Medical Center in Midland. Betty was born the daughter of Jewell and Theda L. (Lux) Swartz on June 16, 1941, in Marion. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Bay on February 14, 1959, in Barryton. Betty was a 1959 graduate of Farwell High School. She had worked as a Nurse's Aide at the Clare Hospital, at the Mitchell Corporation and also in the food service department at Airmark. She enjoyed keeping herself busy crafting. She loved to crochet rugs, sew, quilt, embroider, and make hooked rugs. She has a past Worthy President of the Clare Eagles Auxiliary and had served as secretary of the Clare Rod and Gun Club for over 12 years. Betty attended the Eagle Church of God.
Betty is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Tamey Lee (Will) Knapp of Hewitt, TX, Donald Scott Bay of Clare, Belinda Sue (Ronald) Lane of PA, and Bettie Eileen (Jay) Ricolo of Clare; her brother, Jewell (Selinda) Swartz; four sisters, Judy (Frank) Letts, Jeanette (Max) Mathews, Henrietta (Dale) Martin and Margaret Pringer; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by a brother, Joseph; a sister, Vernalee; and a great granddaughter Jessica.
Visitation will be held at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Eagles Memorial Service will be held on Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Church of God with Pastor Jereme Bear and Mr. Lawrence D. Wyman, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Memorial contributions are suggested to the or the Eagle Church of God. Online guestbook at
