Nov. 14, 1946 - March 10, 2013

Betty Jane (Monroe) Brown, age 66,
of Alma, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in New Port Richey, FL.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sandy Monroe officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wishes of the Family for local Veteran Services.
Betty was born on November 14, 1946 in Alma the daughter of John F. and Katherine (Harp) Monroe. She served in the United States Women's Army Corps. as an EKG Specialist in the Burn Ward at the Army Hospital at Fort Knox in Kentucky, during the Vietnam War from 1966 until her honorable discharge in 1968. She worked as the manager of the Pine Villa Apartments in Alma for over 20 years. Betty was a member of the Eastminster Presbyterian Church where she participated in their Sewing Circle. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and especially loved spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her children, Timothy (Susan) Brown of Lutz, FL, William (Dawn) Brown of Tampa, FL and Sami (Tobby) Cowdrey of Alma; five grandchildren; her companion's children, Scott McCormick of St. Louis, Kristine (Allen) Staskus of Bellevue, Jill (Burt Lake) McCormick of Alma and Audra (Joe) Sherwood of St. Louis; also her siblings, Eugene (Sandy) Monroe of Georgia, James (Judy) Monroe of Alma, Susan (Gary) Burl of Shepherd, Elaine (Eugene) Husted of Alabama and Carolyn (Mike) Lehigh of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her companion, Terry McCormick.

My mother was at Pinevilla while Betty was there and everyone thought a lot of her. She always had time for the residents and would go out of her way to help them when needed.
