Charles Lee Baldwin, age 86, of Blanchard passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at McLaren Central Michigan Hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Charles was born on January 25, 1927 in Edmore, the son of Ray and Charlotte "Lottie" (Moore) Baldwin. He was raised in the Blanchard area and graduated from Blanchard High School in 1945. He furthered his education at Michigan State University in the field of Agriculture.
On August 3, 1952, Charles married the love of his life of 61 years, Patricia "Pat" Mae Dargitz at the Blanchard Church of God. Charles was a self-employed farmer until he retired in 1995. He was a member of the Blanchard Church of God, the Masonic Lodge and the Blanchard Telephone Board. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and taking care of his yard and garden.
Charles is survived by his wife, Pat; their children: Donna (Denny) Enyart of Chana, Illinois, Terrie (Terry) Rogers of Blanchard and Randy (Deb) Baldwin of Blanchard; eight grandchildren: Denise (Jim) Cramer and Daniel (Lacey) Enyart, Travis (Cindy), Trevor and Trent Rogers, Miranda, Branden (Amanda) and Ryan Baldwin; nine great-grandchildren: Micah, Merit, Elizabeth, Dagny, Blayne, Carter, Cameron, Carson and Ciana and several of the community children who considered him as their grandpa; and two sisters, Lois (Robert) Smith and Christine Eldred of Blanchard.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lottie; a daughter, Lucinda and two sisters: Mary Burns and Irene Baldwin.
A Funeral Service will be held to Celebrate Charles Life on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Blanchard Church of God, 200 4th Street in Blanchard at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Mayberry officiating. The family will receive the love and support of extended family members and friends at a visitation scheduled on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel, 413 E. Gilson Street in Edmore. An additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to the service (10 to 11 a.m.) on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Vinewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charles' name may be made payable to the Blanchard Church of God.
