Clarence LeRoy Thomas, age 83, of Weidman, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Tendercare with his family at his side.
A Memorial Service for Clarence will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rodger Saltee officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Clarence was born on June 14, 1929, in Corunna, MI, the son of W.K. Thomas and Ada (Manning) Thomas. He married Ethel (Rhodes) Thomas on June 8, 1949 in Oil City, PA. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2011. Clarence worked as a truck driver, a race car driver and previously for Olson Tire and for March of Dimes as an auctioneer. He was a member of the Lions Club, March of Dimes and was the fire chief for South Branch Township.
Clarence is survived by his children: Russell (Sue) Simons of Alma, Austin Wesley Rea of Kentucky, Diana (Gary) Abbott of St. Johns, Clarence LeRoy (Sue) Thomas of Irons, MI, Roseanna (Bernie) Gossett of Clare, Kathy Rhoades of Cadillac, Linda (Dave) Tompkins of Mt. Pleasant, Allen (Deb) Thomas of Mt. Pleasant, and Chuck (Shirley) Thomas of Mt. Pleasant; 36 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; brother, Bud(Marie) Thomas of Laingsburg, MI; sister, Jean Lake of Lansing.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; daughter, Vicki Wright; and sister, Gertrude.
