Doris Madeleine Haenke Obituary
Doris Madeleine Haenke

Born Doris Madeleine Youngs to John and Flossie Youngs on December 3, 1917 in Alma, Michigan, Doris passed peacefully from this life on April 20, 2013 in Mt. Pleasant.
As a young woman, she moved with her parents to rural Blanchard from Holt, graduating from Blanchard High School. Doris married Willard R. Haenke on December 27, 1937 in LaGrange, IN and went on to spend her next fifty-plus years as a happily married farmer's wife on their farm east of Blanchard.
Four children were born to this union, including Daryl L. Haenke, wife Wanda (both now deceased); Danny L. Haenke, wife Barbara of Blanchard; Carol L. Parks, husband Laurence Parks of Monument, CO and Kay E. Karcher, husband Dale of Blanchard.
Doris dearly loved her nine grandsons and their families including Kevin L. Haenke (who preceded her in death); Richard L. Haenke; Dick and Eric Haenke; Bradley, Patrick and Andrew Parks; Jarot and Jon Karcher.
She also delighted in the lives of five great granddaughters, seven great grandsons and one great, great granddaughter.
As an artist, poet, musician, writer, award-winning apple pie baker, faithful wife and wonderfully patient mom and grandma, Doris was admired and adored by many, but her biggest fan was always her husband, Willard. She was a good neighbor and friend. She loved the Lord, loved people, loved to eat, loved to travel, loved to laugh and truly knew how to enjoy life. Her door was always open and everyone was always welcome at her table.
Doris was active in her church and community serving as a 4-H Leader, worked with the Farm Bureau Women and was known as the chalk-talk lady at the Blanchard Church of God where she was a member for many years. Along with Frances Wood, her good neighbor and dear friend, Doris was one of the two surviving members of The Clay Hill Aid Society which was an active group for over 100 years. She was involved in life at every stage.
Doris spent the last three years of her life enjoying good friends, happy times and wonderful care at the Prestige Centre in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. where she peacefully passed on April 20, 2013.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, April 23, 2013 at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the United By Faith Christian Church, 2050 2ND Street, Blanchard at 11 a.m. with Pastors Tom Colburn and Don Needham officiating. Doris was loved; she will truly be missed.
