Ivah L. Davis Obituary
Aug. 12, 1918 - April 15, 2013

Ivah L. Davis, age 94,
of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. Ivah was born on August 12, 1918 in Arcada Township, Gratiot County, Michigan, the daughter of George and Jennie (Gee) Kirby. On April 21, 1956, at the First Presbyterian Church in Midland, Ivah married Jesse R. Davis. Jesse preceded her in death on February 8, 1993.
Ivah was one of the original members of the Mt. Pleasant Community Church in Mt. Pleasant. She was very active in church activities including summer bible school, cooking and baking, and helping with whatever needed to be done. Ivah enjoyed cooking, baking cakes, cookies, and homemade bread to go along with her homemade jellies and jams. She was noted for her crescent rolls. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and was known as a stylish dresser who was proud of her fur coat. Ivah worked as a bookkeeper for many years for various businesses in Alma, St. Louis and Mt. Pleasant. She retired after ten years of service from Central Michigan University where she worked in the admission's office and was especially liked for the homemade cookies she would bring to work. She enjoyed cooking for parties where she could use her china and crystal glasses.
Surviving Ivah are children, Marilyn Rogers of Summerville, South Carolina and Willard G. Davis, II of Covello, California; also two grandchildren, Laurie Wyatt and Rebecca Vanderbeek and two great grandchildren, Andrew and Savannah Wyatt; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; one sister; and one great granddaughter.
A Service Celebrating Ivah's Life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Rowley Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Brian LeMew of the Mt. Pleasant Community Church officiating. Following the Funeral Service, interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Alma, Michigan beside her husband. Friends will gather with the family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Mt. Pleasant Community Church in Ivah's memory. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
