Joan Lee (Curtiss) Paulson, 77, of Corpus Christi, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. Joan was born on April 24, 1935, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, to Stanford L. and Clara Bertha (Cummins) Curtiss. She graduated from Alma High School and later married the love of her life, Bernard Paulson, on December 4, 1954 in Alma, Michigan.
Joan was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a devout Catholic, a great cook and enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. But most of all she enjoyed taking care of everybody.
Joan graduated with a Bachelor's in Business Administration in 1985 from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. She had served on the Board of Director's of the Texas State Aquarium, and was a member of Cotillion Allegre, Country Club Women's Association and the St. Patrick's Altar Society. She was also an active member of the Bishop's Guild. In 1985, along with her husband, she received the Philanthropist of the Year Award.
Joan is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Bernard Paulson; her son, Dr. James Paulson and his wife, Maki of Narberth, PA; her daughter, Ann Marie Collins and her husband, Timothy of Flower Mound, TX; her daughter, Bernadette Farris and her husband, Thomas of Cranbury, NJ; her daughter, Patricia Paulson of Santa Monica, CA; and her son, Steven Paulson and his wife, Emily of Houston, TX; her daughter-in-law, Clara Paulson; 20 grandchildren, Joseph Paulson, Carmen Paulson, Meli Paulson, Jim McCoy, Kristen Collins, Katie Collins, Joanna Gore, Jack Farris, Steve Farris, Andy Farris, Dan Farris, Mike Cunningham, Liz Cunningham, Reagan Paulson, Lauren Paulson, Meredith Paulson, Ashley Paulson, Kaisten Paulson, Michael Paulson and Bailey Paulson; 1 great grandchild, Jackson McCoy; numerous friends and loved ones who will all miss her dearly.
Joan is preceded by her parents, Stanford and Clara Curtiss; and 2 sons, Joseph Stanford and Thomas Brady Paulson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Corpus Christi Cathedral with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Corpus Christi Cathedral. Interment will be at 2 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2012 at Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview, Michigan.
