Dr. Karl Russell Lindfors, age 75, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013.
A Memorial Service for Karl will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or to CMU Public Radio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Karl was born on July 10, 1937, in Saginaw, the son of Curtis and Rena (Russell) Lindfors. Karl graduated from Saginaw Arthur Hill High School in 1955. He then went to the University of Michigan from 1955 to 1959, where he met his first wife, Katharine Wood. He continued on with his education to obtain a Doctorate of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1963. Following his Doctorate, Karl became a Chemistry Professor at Central Michigan University in 1965. Katharine and he were married in 1957 and had two children together, Bryan and Britt. Katharine preceded Karl in death in 1994. He married his second wife, Donna Dennison in 1995, who also preceded him in death in 2005. Karl married his third wife, Joanne Dzielinski on December 6, 2006. Karl was a member of the Wood Craft Club.
Karl is survived by his wife, Joanne; son, Bryan (Jennifer) Lindfors of Charlevoix; grandsons, Jonathon and Nathan; daughter, Britt (Craig) Price of Nunica; grandson, Brendan; step-children from his second marriage, daughters, Debra (Robert) McClorey and Tammy (Tom) Rinnert; step-children from his third marriage, David (Jeri), Daniel (Lisa), Darryll (Tammy), and Douglas (Nickie) Dzielinski; 10 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren; and sister, Billie (John) Artman.
Karl was preceded in death by his first and second wife; and his parents.
