Kenneth B. Fleming, age 94, of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Alma, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at his home.
Funeral Services for Ken will be held at 11 a.m on. Monday, December 31, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. James Bessert officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lux-Moody - Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Ken was born November 7, 1918 in Alma, the son of Al and Mollie (Nothelfer) Fleming. He graduated from Alma High School in 1936 and went on to Michigan State College. He served in the Navy during W.W.II with the Seabee's. He married Elizabeth Redman on February 14, 1942. Ken began his career in the plastics business in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and moved to Alma where he founded Alma Plastics. He later partnered with his brother, Leo and together they ran the company for many years. After Ken's retirement he moved to Boca Raton, FL.
Ken was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was on the planning committee that rebuilt St. Mary's into the structure it is today, based on a Frank Lloyd Wright design. He was also an avid golfer and a longtime member of Pine River Country Club.
Ken is survived by two daughters, Kay (John) Fleming-Bachman of Louisville, KY, and Becky (Bob) Daley of Fort Smith, AR; two sons, Pat Fleming of Coral Springs, FL, and Tim (Sandy) Fleming of Greenville, OH. He is also survived by one sister, Jean McDonald-Parkes of FL, sister-in-law, Betty Fleming of Alma; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; daughter-in-law, Mary Fleming; two granddaughters, Laura and Angela Fleming; two sisters, Genevieve Howe and June Petrie; and brother, Leo Fleming.
