Larry Monaghan, age 72, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born September 9, 1941 in Edinburgh, Scotland the son of Anthony and Charlotte (Grace) Monaghan. Larry moved to the United States as a young man and shortly after joined the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War.
He graduated from the Police Academy and went to work for the Grand Trunk Railroad as a special agent. He retired in 2001 after 30 years of service.
Larry is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Charlotte (Dave Carrier) Monaghan of Scottsdale, AZ, Marianne (Brian) Huff of Alma; two grandchildren, Brandon and Beren Huff; and special friends, Beverly Johnson and Jeanne Zuker of Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vincent Monaghan; sister, Veronica King; and his first wife, Beverly Grubb.
A Memorial Service will be held on St. Patrick's Day, Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Alma Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Brian Huff officiating. Interment was held at Riverside Cemetery in Alma.
