LeRoy Erick Isaksson Obituary

LeRoy Erick Isaksson, age 92, of Mt Pleasant, MI, formerly of Saginaw and Alma, passed away suddenly of heart failure on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital.
He was born to Alfred and Esther O. (Olson) Isaksson on May 4, 1921 in Herbster, WI. After he graduated from Cornucopia High School, he entered the Army Signal Corps during W.W.II and became an instructor. He proceeded to The University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received a BS in Electrical Engineering and was a member of Kappa Eta Kappa. Recruited by Consumers Energy, he enjoyed a 33 year career until retirement in 1987. During this time he received awards for innovative lighting design, leadership, sales and customer service excellence. He was a past chairman of the Michigan Chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society, a District Governor of Toastmasters International, a longtime member of Kiwanis, and the Saginaw City Board of Electrical Inspectors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his brother, Axel, summer vacations in Herbster, WI, and was fond of socializing over coffee and donuts, no matter where he was.
In 1958, he married Maxine Krabbe in Munger, MI at St. James Lutheran Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Maxine; his son, John of Mt. Pleasant, MI/ Herbster, WI; daughter Amy of Aptos, CA; granddaughter, Rhiannon (Elliot) Bunek (Isaksson) of Naples, Italy; and great grandson, Parker Bunek; sister, Inez (Floyd) Callum of Tampa FL/ Lake Geneva, WI; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Esther Isaksson; and his brothers, Albert, Axel, and Gustaf.
LeRoy was firm in his faith in God and was a longtime member and elder of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Saginaw and Peace Lutheran Church in Alma.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 325 E. Warwick Ave., Alma, MI 48801 with Rev. Thomas C. Messer officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Interment will be in Herbster Cemetery in Herbster, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in LeRoy's memory to Peace Lutheran Church.
