Mary Elizabeth Thomas, age 90 of St. Louis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 16, 2013 at her home. She was born January 8, 1923 in Alma the daughter of Thelma Bacon and was adopted at a young age by Ray and Gertrude (Avery) Best. She was a 1941 graduate of Alma High School and married Everett L. Thomas on November 5, 1941 in Alma.
Mary was a devoted Christian and attended the First Church of God in Alma for many years. She was a loving wife and mother who loved caring for her home and family.
Mary is survived by 2 sons, Jerry Thomas of St. Louis and Everett "Bud" (Roberta) Thomas, both of St. Louis; 4 grandchildren, Barry (Amy) Thomas of El Paso, TX, Tanya (Gordon) Richards, Christina (John) Fales and Lacy (Andy) Diaz all of St. Louis and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Gertrude Best; mother, Thelma Nitschky; her husband, Everett on October 14, 1995; and a brother, Raymond Best.
A Private Family Graveside Service was held in Riverside Cemetery officiated by Pastor Brian Wickes. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
