Maxine Viola Smith, age 93, of Vestaburg, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at Masonic Pathways in Alma surrounded by her children.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Ferris Center Church of Christ with Pastors Tony Crane and Tom Chamberlin officiating. Interment will be in Ferris Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Maxine was born September 30, 1919 in Crystal Township the daughter of Clarence and Viola (Shaw) Doolittle. She married Alton "Jeff" Smith on October 8, 1938 in Ithaca. Maxine helped her husband on their dairy farm and was a member of the Ferris Center Church of Christ. She was a former member of the Ladies Aid and enjoyed crocheting, and singing at church. Maxine loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Maxine is survived by four daughters, Jennie Jenison of Riverdale, Carolee (Richard) Leet of West Olive, Marcia (Vernon) Hull of Vestaburg and Rosalee (Gerald) Hull of Stanton; 2 sons, Jeffery (Cindy) Smith of Stanton and Kevin (Tina) Smith of Vestaburg; 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alton on June 22, 2004; two sisters, Ila Dukes and Minnie Barber; four brothers, Charlie, Ted, Lawrence and Marvin Doolittle; and a son-in-law, Leslie Jenison.
