Michael Martin Duda Obituary

Michael Martin Duda, age 59,
of Alma, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 12, 1953 in Allen Park, Michigan the son of Harold and Barbara (Martin) Duda.
Michael had great artistic talents which he loved sharing with his community. Singing, acting and creative art were his passions. The Gratiot County Players have become his second family and in 2009. He was honored with the Gwen and Carew LeBlanc award in recognition of his outstanding performances and service to the Players. The memories of his quiet grace and highly esteemed talents, both on-stage and behind the scenes at the Strand Theater will ever continue to enrich our lives.
He is survived by his partner of 27 years, Al Bartholomew of Alma, Michigan; his brother, John (and Judy) Duda of Beulah, Michigan; two sisters, Janie (and Bill) McDaniel of San Antonio, Texas, and Susan (and Dick Obert) of Taylor, Michigan; his maternal aunts, Jo Ann Martin of North Manchester, Indiana, and Patty Johannessen of Danville, California; two nieces, three nephews; five great nieces; and three great nephews; and a loving community of friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Barbara Duda.
There will be a Gathering to remember and Celebrate his Life at the First Presbyterian Church in Alma at 12 Noon on Friday, April 12, 2013.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gratiot County Players, Mike Duda Memorial- Youth Workshop Fund, in care of the Gratiot County Players, 217 E. Superior St., Alma, MI 48801. A scholarship fund for summer theater workshops for the encouragement and support of youth with an interest in theater participation.
