Robert LeRoy Lowery Obituary

Robert LeRoy Lowery, age 85, of Breckenridge, formerly of Merrill, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot in Alma. He was born on May 31, 1928 in Wheeler the son of George F. and Rachel (Vought) Lowery. On March 16, 1962 he married Beatrice Harvey in Midland County.
Robert worked for Dow Chemical in the Railroad Department as a switchman and also the night dispatcher. He retired from Dow on January 31, 1986 after over 35 years of service. He was a member of the Breckenridge Wesleyan Church.
Robert had a great love for the out-of-doors and was a jack of all trades. He enjoy helping his children with their 4-H projects and was always willing to lend a hand to help other children. Robert raised horses and spent many years horse shoeing and trimming for others.
Robert is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Breckenridge; six children, Robert (Elvina) Lowery, Jr. of Missouri, Teresa (Ralph) Jackson of Tennessee, Betty Crippen of Riverdale, Lois (Floyd) Chapin of Midland, Edward Lowery of Breckenridge and Rachel (Dave) Brownell of Webberville; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and three sisters, Ila (Jack) Marcy of Freeland, Ada Moulton of Merrill and Lillian (Guy) Garrison of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Lowery; two grandsons, Gregory Jackson and Christopher Brownell; and a sister, Margaret Earick.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel with Pastor Wayne Boughan of the Breckenridge Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
