Sara Felisky Obituary
Felisky, Sara; age 80; of Weidman; passed away with her family by her side Sunday, April 6, 2014 at her home. Funeral Services for Sara will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Diane Gordon and Rev. Ronald Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and First United Methodist Church. Sara was born on May 21, 1933 in Weidman, the daughter of Salvador and Ruth (Reyes) Escoto. She graduated in 1952 from Flint Central High School. She married Donald Felisky on October 9, 1954 in Flint. Sara continued her education, obtaining her LPN license from St. Joseph Nursing School in 1961. She then worked for Flint General Hospital until 1969, leaving there to move to Leslie, MI, where she worked for WA Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson until her retirement. Shortly after their move to Leslie, she and Don bought Felisky’s Fine Foods and Catering, which they both ran until 2001 and then moved to their summer home in Weidman to enjoy retirement. She enjoyed working part-time at Meijer, which allowed her to talk to customers. Sara enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and needle work. She loved to spend time with family and friends. Sara is survived by her husband of 59 years, Donald; daughters, Martha Felisky of Weidman and Donna (Scott) Clements of Howell; grandchildren, Laura and Samuel Clements; siblings, Daniel (Bette) Escoto, Estrella (Jay) Steward, Kelso (Alberta) Escoto, Kerolie (Lauren) Grose, Zonda “Dawn” Escoto, and Bethel (Marvin) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Sara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David; and precious granddaughter, Tara Anne Felisky in 2013.
