Shirley Jo Hubbard, age 74, of Ithaca, MI passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Gratiot Medical Center, Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Douglas Strait officiating. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 2 to 8 p.m. with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shirley was born in Gering, Nebraska on August 30, 1938, the daughter of Eugene and Esther (Pollock) Wilson. Shirley married William D. Hubbard on June 19, 1964 in Ithaca.
Shirley loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing cards, going to garage sales and antiquing. She loved to crochet and made thousands of afghans for her friends and family. She was a member at the Ithaca Wesleyan Church where she played the piano for the past several years. She was a naturally gifted musician, playing the piano, organ and accordion for her family and friends. Shirley was the owner and operator of The Hay Stack in Alma for several years, and she also managed Park Colony Apartments in Ithaca for many years.
She is survived by her husband Bill Hubbard of Ithaca, MI, son Zane Hubbard of Ithaca, MI, son Aaron and Rose Hubbard of Ithaca, MI, daughter Vicki and Jim Wideman of Ithaca, MI, son William and Jodie Hubbard of Alma, MI, grandchildren; Julie and Mark Ellsworth, William and Lydia Hubbard, Samantha and Jared Fritz, Meghan and Keith Cotter, Clark Hubbard, William Hubbard, Brett Hubbard, Darin Wideman, Bruce Hubbard, Boyd Hubbard and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters; Sharon and Bob Swander, Renita and Ken Best and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers; Sonny and Darrell Wilson.
