April 16, 1985 - June 4, 2013|
Timothy James Roslund, age 28, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away with family at his side, at Woodland Hospice on Tuesday, June 4, after a courageous two and one-half year battle with liver cancer.
Born in Lima, Peru on April 16, 1985, Timmy was raised in Alma, Michigan, and a proud product of that community and its public school system. Graduating from Alma High School in 2004, in 2006 he earned a degree from MCTI, the Michigan Career and Technical Institute in Plainwell. For five years he worked in retail sales with Walmart, first in St. Johns and more recently at the SuperCenter in Mt. Pleasant.
Timmy was famously known for his outgoing grace, friendliness, and readiness to assist and support whoever was in need or even just nearby. He was quick to volunteer and that included for groups ranging from the Alma Highland Festival Organizing Committee and the Alma/St. Louis Rotary Club to the Community Food Pantry in Mt. Pleasant, with Salvation Army Bell-Ringing, church-related and other activities in between. In 2011, his many friends, acquaintances, and co-workers organized a fund-raiser to help him through his struggle and his family has always been very touched by his friends' demonstrations of support, caring, and love for Timmy. With such a generous life cut so short, he is already very sorely missed.
Timmy is survived by his mother, Lorraine M. Kirk, his father, James T. Roslund, step-father Rodney C. Kirk; siblings: Joseph T. Hansen (Tina), Jacob T. Hansen, James T. Hansen, and Stephen C. Kirk; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His friends and supporters are too numerous to name but friends Kim and Diane at Winchester Towers in Mt. Pleasant were especially important to Timmy.
His family wishes to thank the many physicians and support staff at the University of Michigan Hospital and Cancer Centers who worked from early 2011 up to 2013 to help Tim in his struggle with this terrible disease. Donations to honor the name and memory of Timothy Roslund may be made to Woodland Hospice, 2597 Meridian Road, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858, and/or to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund, 1221 South Dr., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858.
Cremation has been arranged through Dewey Funeral Home in Alma. Interment of the remains and a memorial service will take place at a later date in the Pennington Memorial Garden at the First Presbyterian Church in Alma, Michigan. For more of his story view "Tim Roslund's Journey," at
