Willard Carrick, 90, of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at Hilltop Manor Health Care Center in Roscommon.
His Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday one hour prior to the start of the service.

Willard was born December 29, 1921, in Isabella County, Michigan, son of the late Jacob and Ruby May (Swan) Carrick. He married the late Vernetta Weihl on January 14, 1945, in Coleman, Michigan.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942-1945. He was one of three generations to serve during wartime. His father Jacob served in World War I while his son Ron served in Vietnam.
Willard worked at a number of places throughout his life. He was a truck driver, worked a short time at Dow Chemical, owned and operated a gas station, and eventually retired from Central Michigan after 20 years as a bus driver and mechanic.
After retiring, he and his wife had lived in Zephyrhills, FL for 17 years, returning to Michigan two years ago. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed puzzles and playing cards.
Willard is survived by a son, Richard (Janine) Carrick of Big Rapids; five grandchildren, Andrew, Williard J. Carrick, Marianne (Leon) Wilcoxon, Melissa (Brett) Bittenbender and Richard A. Carrick; five great grandchildren, Brittany, Andrew, Aydin, Collin and Jacob; in-laws Mildred (Duane) Acker of Greenville, Marian McDonald of Mt. Pleasant, Edwin (Linda) Weihl of Coleman and Carole (Jerry) Gualdoni of Canadian Lakes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernetta on April 20, 2012; son, Ronald in 1999; sister, Joyce; sister-in-law, Velma Marble; and brother-in-law, Jerry McDonald.
