William Harbitz Jr., age 86, born December 21, 1926 in Muskegon, MI, went to be with the Lord October 4, 2013 in Charlotte, MI.
Bill was a retired insurance adjuster for Michigan Claim's Services, and served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He was an active member of the Grand Ledge Baptist Church and was an integral part of establishing Trinity Christian Reformed Church for the students on campus at Central Michigan University. Bill had a servant's heart, a love for family, and was an amazing and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie; son, Robert (Jeri); daughters, Susan Kares and Pamela (Matthew) Boon; 11 grandchildren, Robert (Jessie) Harbitz, II, Katie (Aaron) Sailor, Laura, Emily and Erica Kares, Amanda, Nicole and Michael Boon, Heather (A.J.) Harbitz Mergele, Sarah Harbitz, and Jason (Mallory) Harbitz; 5 great grandchildren, Kylie, Grady, Laney, Lucas Sailor, and Payten Kares; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sons, Mark and John; daughter, Linda; sisters, Edith Artibee and Kathryn Palsrok.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Grand Ledge Baptist Church, 1120 Willow Hwy., with Pastor John Lemke officiating. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to service time. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be given to the Eaton Community Palliative Care.
