Edward Natzel Obituary
Natzel, Edward (Ed) Eugene; age 77; of Mt. Pleasant; passed away peacefully March 8, 2014; surrounded by his family. He was born February 2, 1937, in Flint, MI; to Clarence and Ethel (Tibitts) Natzel. On June 22, 1957, he married Ellen Hayward. They were married for nearly 47 years until her death in 2004. On November 10, 2006, he married Joyce Baumann, who survives him. He is also survived by sons, Chris (Jean) of Bad Axe, MI, and Kevin of Mt. Pleasant; daughters, Cheryl Natzel of Mt. Pleasant and Karen Natzel of Portland, OR; sister, Margaret (Jim) Churches of Burt, MI; grandchildren, Brian (Lindsey) Natzel of Plymouth, IN, and Jennifer Natzel of Benton Harbor, MI; great grandsons, Christopher Natzel and Jackson Natzel of Plymouth, IN; special caregiver, Makaila Yuncker, (Joyce’s granddaughter) of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was an Insurance Agent for Mutural of Omaha for many years, and worked as a ranger at Pleasant Hills Golf Club following his retirement. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Church and the Sacred Heart Academy School Board. Ed enjoyed golfing, hunting, dancing, bowling, traveling, and playing cards with family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Ellen; sister, Shirley Acker; and sister, Judy Natzel. Funeral Services for Ed will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Nick Casteel of Central Michigan Free Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of Ed are asked to consider the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
