Marian Blizzard Obituary
Blizzard, Marian “Faith” (Oliver); of Mount Pleasant, MI; died in her sleep on April 21, 2014 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Faith was born in Muskegon, Michigan, on May 10, 1934, and she moved to Mount Pleasant with her mother and sister as a child. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and attended some classes at Central Michigan University. As a young mother, Faith was an Avon saleswoman with a route throughout Mt. Pleasant that had her drinking coffee and sharing stories with many ladies as she showed them the latest color trends. She also worked as a waitress at a number of local establishments including Paul’s Famous Restaurant, Stan’s, Scotty’s, the Texan, the Cabin, and Falsetta’s. She also worked at Jon’s Country Burger Drive-In and at the Pixie when the carhops wore roller skates, and her picture can be seen in the Pixie today. She considered herself a grandmother to the first graders she volunteered with at Pullen Elementary School and also worked as a Foster Grandparent at Sacred Heart Academy. A long-standing member of the West Side Tabernacle, Faith loved attending church, reading books and could often be seen riding her bike around Mount Pleasant. She was an avid music fan, buying records from restaurants after they were taken from the juke boxes. As well as music, she surrounded herself with the photographs she took of her family and friends. She also held a special fondness for antiques. Faith loved animals and was known to put treats out for all the neighborhood pets and occasional wildlife. She had a hand in raising nearly all of her grandchildren, and each holds special memories of his and her time with her. She is survived by 2 sisters, Bonnie Gray of Lake Isabella, MI, and Shirley Henderson of Hudsonville, MI; and 1 brother, Duane (Betty) Jacobus of Brohman, MI; 8 children, Tony (Laura) Blizzard of Sarasota, FL, Tammy (Dwayne) Bolden of Houston, TX, Nick Blizzard of Mount Pleasant, MI, Andy (Shelly) Blizzard of Mount Pleasant, MI, Aaron (Sherry Moravy) Blizzard of Ann Arbor, MI, Matt (Julie) Blizzard of Las Vegas, NV, Chris Blizzard of Phoenix, AZ, Sharon Avery of Mount Pleasant, MI, and 1 step-son, John Blizzard of Shepherd, MI; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Neuhauser; father, Paul Oliver; step-father, Raymond Neuhauser; her sister, Jean Johnson; and 1 half-brother, Dell Oliver. The community is invited to visit with the family at the Rowley Funeral Home at 330 South University Avenue, Mount Pleasant, MI, on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 10 to 11 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following Visitation at 11 a.m., with internment at Riverside Cemetery later that afternoon.
