Carlyle Hill Obituary
Hill, Carlyle “Junior”; age 75; of Sumner Township; passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2014 at his farm due to an accident. He was born March 25, 1939 in Alma, Michigan the son of Harry and Myrtle (Brooks) Hill and grew up on a farm in Merrill. He married Mary Lou Wagner on October 5, 1963. Junior owned and operated Jr. Hill Roofing Company for many years. He had a natural born talent for music and could pick up any string instrument and play it, his favorite being the five string banjo. He had many hobbies and a great love for the out of doors. He loved sharing this hobby with his grandsons Tristan and Tyler, who spent many days learning about fishing, hunting, trapping and life with Grandpa. Weather it was fixing something or tapping trees and boiling sap for Maple Syrup or pressing apples for cider his “boys” will carry on the traditions he so eagerly shared. Junior is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Hill of Sumner; a son, Steven Hill, his children, Emma Border, Elizabeth, Isabell and Josef Hill, daughter Carrie Hill and her sons, Tristan Carlyle May, Tyler Christian May and a brother Jerry “Mickey” Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brandon Border; brothers, Robert, Jack, Virgil, Ron; sister, Betty Lemon; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Hill. The Hill family would like to thank their friends and neighbors Darwin Shaffer, Nathan Plumly, Dick Lombard for their help at the scene of the accident. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma with Don Loomis officiating.
