Catherine Nelson Obituary
NELSON, CATHERINE “Casey” JANE; age 60; of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Woodland Hospice House. A Memorial Service for Casey will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, August 16. 2014, at 12 Noon with The Rev. Nancy Casey-Fulton officiating. A Luncheon will be held in the Reflections Reception Center immediately following the memorial service. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Casey requested that those attending feel free to choose casual and colorful attire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or to Humane Animal Treatment Society (HATS). Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. Casey was born on July 23, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Clifford and Dorothy (McNerney) Collin. Casey graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1973 and worked as a Training Technician at the Mt. Pleasant Center for 16 years. She married John Nelson on March 16, 1996. Casey enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Casey is survived by her husband, John Nelson; children, Jason (Sigrun) Brickner of Vermont and Angela (Philippe) Giacalone of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Tanner, Elijah, Sebastian, Kamilla, Nicholas, Tristan, and Franklin; brothers, Jim (Julie) Collin, Jon (Theresa) Collin, both of Mt. Pleasant, Gene Paul Collin of Santa Barbara, CA, and David (Nancy) Collin of LaPorte, IN; sister, Susan (Donald Roger) Fuller of Mt. Pleasant and Marie Fussman of Beal City; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Casey was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ginger and Pat; and brothers, Dennis and Bill.
