Don Francis Gould, age 93, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at McLaren Central Michigan.
A Memorial Service for Don will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kimberly Briggs officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Visitation will continue on Friday, November 30 from 10 a.m. to the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice or to the Prestige Centre. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Don was born on December 8, 1918 in Saint Charles, MI, the son of James A. and Grace E. (Lewis) Gould. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1936 and went on to receive his Ph.D in Pharmacy at the University of Grand Rapids. Don married the love of his life, Dorothy Collinson on December 7, 1941 in Grand Rapids. They spent 61 years together before Dorothy's passing in 2002. Don proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his military services, Don started his own pharmacies, Gould Drugs. He continued operations of the pharmacies for over 42 years, retiring in 1982. Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant and a former member of the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, a Chairman on the Hospital Board, and citizen of the year.
Don is survived by his children, Priscilla Adams of Mt. Pleasant, Emily Goffnett of Mt. Pleasant, and William "Fred" (Delores) Gould of Beal City; 9 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; special friend, Sally Rau; brother, Lewis Gould; and sisters, Patricia Brand and Betsy Delamater.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; son, James A. Gould III; son-in-laws, Willam "Quincy" Adams and David Goffnett; 7 brothers; and 1 sister.
