Henry (Hank) Emil Simecek, 85, died on Monday, 11 February 2013 at McClaren Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan from complications related to a 17-year bout with Parkinson's disease. He was born on 02 May 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to John Simecek, Sr. and Marie Pantlik.
Hank grew up in Milan, Michigan and graduated from Milan High School in 1943. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Torrance. After the war, he and his wife, Nyra, started a family and Hank graduated from the Detroit Police Academy. He served as a Detroit Police Officer for twelve years before taking on responsibilities as a legal investigator for AAA from which he eventually retired.
Hank married Nyra Madison Williams in 1947 in Detroit. They were happily married for 65 years. Hank was a member of the Michigan Masons and enjoyed fixing clocks. Moreover, he was his own, self-taught "master carpenter," having built 2 of his own houses in Maple Rapids and Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
Hank is survived by his wife Nyra of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, his son John, (and his wife Marcia) of Rochester Hills, Michigan., his son Stephan (and his wife Rosemary) of Austin, Texas and daughter Randy (Simecek) Siedlecki (and her husband Daniel) of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. One of six brothers, Hank is survived by his remaining brother, Milo (Mel) Simecek of Belleville, Michigan.
Hank's 9 grandchildren are as follows: From his son John's family are: Christiaan (and Vicki) Simecek, Matthew Simecek, and Joshua (and Michelle) Simecek. From his son Steve's family: Jennifer (and Keith) Allen, Jeff (and Amber) Simecek. From his daughter Randy's family: Jennifer (and Nate) Nunn, Caleb (and Erin) Siedlecki, Emily (and Scott) Gibson and Matthew Siedlecki.
Henry's 14 great grandchildren are: Benjamin, Nathan, Jacey, Jackson, Trinity, Bella, Gracelyn, Ellianah, Keegan, Kennedy, Reagan, Palin, Isaiah and Anaiah.
Hank is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Andy and Letta Stefaniak, and 4 brothers, Joe, John, Jerry, and Frank.
A Funeral Service will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, 114 S. Bradley St., Mt. Pleasant, Michigan at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013 with Pastor Dan Siedlecki (son-in-law) officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Wednesday, February 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. The family will continue greeting friends and relatives a half hour before the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
