Adam N. Rey, age 83, of Lake, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, in Grand Rapids. Adam was born the son of Adam and Appolonia M. (Beiber) Rey on January 1, 1930, in Detroit. He attended Lincoln High School in Warren. He had served in the U.S Army 1st Infantry Signal Corp. as a High Speed Radio Operator; being stationed in Germany during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Adam was united in marriage to Velma M. Wells in November 7, 1953, with her passing away on August 12, 1993. He was then married to Judy A. Ramseyer on June 10, 1995, with her predeceasing him on February 5, 2012. Adam had worked at Briggs Manufacturing and Chrysler Manufacturing in Detroit; as well as Reif Carbide Tool Company for 35 years, 25 of those as a Foreman. He was a member of the Clare-Farwell American Legion Post 558.
Adam is survived by his children, Cynthia M. Silvis of Yale, Steven A. Rey of Grand Rapids, and Bruce L. Rey of Emmitt; his step-children, David (Suzanne) Fussman of Weidman and Jaclyn (Ryan) Dukes of Ypsilanti; grandchildren, Robert McCracken, III of Richmond, Stacy M. (Paul) Cordell of Yale, and Cassidy J. Rey of Emmitt; four step-grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his brother, Joseph F. (Patricia) Rey of Beaverton; and his sister-in-law, June Rey of Hope. Adam was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence J. and Donald L.; and step-children, Mark Fussman, Paula Myers, and Dawn Fussman.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Rev. Ron and Rev. Margaret Vredeveld officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and prior to the services beginning at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the . Please visit Adam's online condolence page at
