Ralph Brand Jorgensen,
of Alma, passed away April 19, 2013, at age 79 after a short battle with cancer. Ralph lived in Alma for 33 years and retired from Alma Products.
Ralph was born to Holger and May Jorgensen on May 21, 1933 and grew up on the family farm near Cedar Lake, Michigan. He graduated from Edmore High School in 1952. He was an honored member of the Army's Military Police and participated in "Operation Glory" during the Korean War.
After returning home from Korea he worked for over 15 years at General Electric in Edmore and later as an independent contractor.
Ralph is preceded in death by his brother, Jim Jorgensen; Shelly Darmody, step-daughter; and wife of 33 years, Lucille.
Ralph is survived by 3 children, Randy (Kim) Jorgensen, of Imlay City, Michele (Pete) Martinez, Oceanside California, Pam (Don) Trumbull of Milton Wisconsin; step-children, Jeffery (Lori) Darmody, Dennis (Sue) Darmody; and sister, Virginia Erskine of Grand Rapids. He has 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and family friend, Laura Clark.
Ralph loved watching his grandchildren play sports and seldom missed any game or contest no matter how big or small. He also liked hunting, fishing, woodworking and camping. He was dearly loved by his community, friends and family. Ralph will be most remembered as a fun loving, humorous man who always had a story to share and a friendly hello for one and all.
Ralph was active in the VFW Post in St. Louis, Michigan. He was a proud member and proud of his service to his country.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the VFW Post in St. Louis with a luncheon to follow, all are invited. Pastor George Showers will officiate.
