Barry Vernel Fike Obituary
April 28, 1943-June 29, 2013

Barry Vernel Fike was born April 28, 1943 to Vernel and Eva (Hodson) Fike in Rosebush, MI. He will be sadly missed as he has left for heaven on June 29, 2013, after a long battle with lung disease.
Barry had a passion for farming. Circling the section checking on his fields numerous times a season always kept him busy. When he wasn't farming, you can be sure he was tuned into any sports game. Always in the background you could hear a sporting event while coming into the house, mostly baseball and football. He was an avid Tigers fan, and followed them closely. If he wasn't watching sports, an old time western was the next best thing. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Barry had a great laugh and a way of listening which cannot be replaced.
As he was known by many, Great Uncle "Blueberry" was an expert in cookie making. Barry's famous ginger molasses cookies will truly be missed. All of his great nieces and nephews enjoyed countless trips to the farm for the green container of cookies! Never blessed with children, but blessed with the many children of the family. He has extended that love and support to the communities' children with a very generous donation to Michigan State Universities Agriculture Program. The Barry Fike Young Farmer's Scholarship provides financial support for students pursuing an agricultural degree at MSU.
He is survived by his sisters, Dolores Cluley-Lockwood and her three children, David (Carla) Cluley, Diane Barnard, Denis (Cathie) Cluley; Karen Clear and her children, Linda Blackwell, June (David) Siel, Treva Bundy, Tana (Dan) Weggel; and brother Edwin (Patricia) Fike and their children Edwin (Carrie) Fike and Mark (Tina) Fike and all of his great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Vernel and his mother Eva.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the farm at 1 p.m. All are welcome to celebrate the life of this wonderful brother and uncle. Donations may be made to Woodland Hospice or to an organization of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the farm during the service.
