James M. "Jim" Cagala Obituary
Jan. 10, 1933 - July 31, 2013

James "Jim" M. Cagala, age 80, of Alma, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids.
Memorial Services for Jim will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Seville Community Church of God with Pastor George Showers officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 1454 of Alma or the VA Hospital.
Jim was born January 10, 1933 in Detroit the son of Michael and Ruth (Catron) Cagala. At the age of 7 his mother passed away and he and his twin sister, Janet, went to live with his Aunt and Uncle Theo and Allie Greenhoe in Elwell. Jim attended Alma High School excelling in cross country and graduated in 1951. He enlisted in the Marines and served three enlistments during the Korean and Vietnam Wars retiring as a Master Sergeant on April 30, 1971 after 20 years of service to his country. On March 8, 1958 Jim married Elaine Johnson and together they raised four children. Jim decided he wasn't done working and spent another 24 years working for General Motors in Lansing as a repairman. Jim was an avid sports fan enjoying the Lions, Tigers and University of Michigan Football. He also enjoyed reading and playing euchre.
He is survived by his wife Elaine; 4 children, Cindy (Chris) Brown of Tennessee, Kevin (Sue) Cagala of Clark Lake, Mi., Nannette (John) Hagerman of Carson City, and Angela (Kevin) Adams of Alma; also 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren with 1 more to arrive in 11 days; a sister, Marge Reidenbaugh of Wyandotte; and brother-in-law, Jim Joslin of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chuck Cagala; sister, Catherine Glide; and twin sister, Janet Joslin.
