Doyle "Red" Francis Bowen, age 93, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013.
Funeral Services for Red will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday October 17, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Karon Latham officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 12 Noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Red was born on November 13, 1919 in Barryton, the son of Empson and Maude (Huffman) Bowen. Red proudly served his country in the United States Army during W.W.II. He married Aletha Lassen on June 7, 1947. Aletha preceded Red in death in 2003. Red was a truck driver for Ferro Manufacturing for over 30 years and was a member of the Weidman
. Red was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending his time gardening.
Red is survived by his children, Lana (Tom) Means of St. George, UT, Holly Wiles of North Muskegan, Todd (Vicki) Bowen of Mt. Pleasant, Tonya Bowen of Bayport, MI, Rodd Bowen, and Dana Bowen, both of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; sister, Betty (Gale) Merrihew of Clio; and sister-in-law, Bernadine Bowen of Barryton.
Red was preceded in death by his wife, Aletha; grandson, Joseph Owens; granddaughters, Tara and Sara Means; brothers, Lewis and Olin Bowen; and sisters, Minerva Owen and Iola Miller.
