Peter George Fronczak, 86, of Remus, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013, at McLaren-Central Michigan.
A Memorial Service for Peter will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Michael Fronczak officiating. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Peter was born on May 20, 1927, in Lansing, the son of Peter W. and Bernice Fronczak. He served in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Major, and also served in the National Guard, retiring in 1987. Peter received an engineering degree from Michigan State University. He was employed as an electronic engineer at Central Michigan University in the audiology department. He previously was employed with WCEN. Peter married Harriett (Thocker) Butler on January 12, 1991, in Lansing. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Alma and a member and past president of the Blanchard Rotary Club. Peter enjoyed outdoor sports of all kinds, boating, motorcycling, fishing. In later life, he became an endurance athlete, running marathons and triathlons.
Peter is survived by his wife, Harriett Fronczak of Remus; seven children, Michael (Linda) Fronczak of Coldwater, Daniel (Cheryl) Fronczak of Lansing, Margaret Fronczak of Milford, Laura (Donald) Shemel of Coldwater, Peter D. Fronczak of Blanchard, Rory Butler of Ithaca, and Chuck (Robin) Butler of Stanton; 15 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Ted (Elsie) Fronczak of Florida and Dick (Paula) Fronczak of Boulder, CO; and sister, Linda (Bill) Brown of Fredericksburg, VA.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Edward and Henry Fronczak.
