Dec. 4, 1959 - Dec. 8, 2013

Tamela Lynn "Tammy" Shunk, age 54, of Alma, lost her courageous battle with cancer after four years on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Gratiot in Alma.
Tammy was born on December 4, 1959 in Manistique, Michigan, the daughter of Donald and Betty (Hill) Nelson. She was a 1978 graduate of Carson City High School and was honored by her senior class as their Homecoming Queen. She started her venture in life attending Barbizon Modeling School. On March 5, 1982 she married Raymond Shunk and began her lifelong passion of raising her four wonderful children. Tammy was proud to later attend Aviation Technician courses at Lansing Community College.
She enjoyed her flower gardens, making stain glass and loved road trips even if just to get an ice cream cone. Her life revolved around her family that she loved so much, especially her grandchildren. She was one of the most selfless and compassionate women and will be greatly missed by her family.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Raymond of Alma; four children, Kenny (Raedene) Shunk of Alma, Jason Shunk of Alma, Jennifer (Paul) Post of St. Louis and Sheree (Jake Roesly) Shunk of Alma; five grandchildren, Kendra (Pat) O'Connor, Kemmie Shunk, Koby Shunk, Cooper Post and Levi Roesly; one great granddaughter, Krysteen O'Connor; and two sisters, Rhonda (Larry) Dutton of Elwell and DonnaMae (Eric) Smith of Vickeryville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
