Ealnor Naomi Smith Obituary
Smith, Ealnor Naomi (Vanorden); loving mother, grandmother and sister was reunited with her husband on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Ealnor, age 85; passed away at her home in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan with her family around her. She was born on January 1, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Richard and Naomi Iva (Pepple) Vanorden. Ealnor married Theodore “Ted” Clayton Smith on March 30, 1973 in Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed baking, gardening, the casino, her Yorkie dog, crocheting, the Detroit Tigers and most of all going all out for Christmas for her family. She was employed for over thirty years as a Registered Nurse for the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center. She was a member of the Weidman VFW Auxillary.Survivors include her children, William (Sue) Durfee and Lujean (Carlos) Marin; grandchildren, Shawn (Jeremy) Sawmick, Mindy Durfee, Jessica Pelcher, Riki (John) Flores and great grandchildren, Justene Pelcher-Sawmick, Devon Durfee, Tainelle Bailey-Durfee, Bryan Chingman, Jr., Noah Sawmick, Javier (Eli) Marin, Gracie and Alyssa Flores; also surviving are sisters and brothers, Joanne Smith, Sandra (Gary) Kappler, Lyle Vanorden, LeRoy Vanorden, Don (Nancy) Vanorden; and her baby Yorkie, Peaches. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her sister, Wilma Cashen; two brothers, Wayne and Milan Vanorden; and her parents, Richard and Naomi Vanorden. Funeral Services Celebrating Ealnor’s Life will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. from the Rowley Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Perry officiating. Interment will follow the service in Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant beside her husband. Friends will meet with the family on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends at 7 p.m. to share memories of Ealnor’s life.
