STAHL, DUANE MICHAEL; age 46; of Clare passed away unexpectedly, Friday, October 31, 2014. A Memorial Service for Duane will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Shirley A. Ellsworth officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. Duane was born on April 7, 1968. He grew up in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Richard and Karolyn (Stahl) Groeneveld. Duane was self employed as a scrap metal hauler. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, canoeing, hunting, and taking his daughter to different amusement parks. Duane is survived by his daughter, Lydia Stahl; parents; brothers, Eugene (Lori) Groeneveld of Alma and Jerry Groeneveld of Riverdale; niece, Jaimie Groeneveld; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles. I met Duane a couple years ago. Found a friend in him very fast. I was so shocked when I heard. He will be missed til we meet again. Prayers are with Lydia. Rest in peace my friend.

He's like another member of the family. If you ever met him, his laugh, smile, and attitude are unforgettable. He's one of the most amazing, funny, and most forgiving people I've ever met. It's so surreal still. He will definitely be greatly missed by many. Love you.

I still can't believe this is real! Dewey you just participated in one of the most important days in my life....Our wedding. You are always going to be James's best man. It certainly didn't take me long to realize how important you were to James, and what role you would play in our lives. Watching your best friend hurt right now is horrible, we miss you so much. But, we frequently talk about the good times and the memories. It doesn't take long to smile and fee l the LOVE we both have for you. Lydia, your daddy loves you! Dewey you'll be with us forever in heart and mind, miss you brother.

I am sorry I forgot to add this to the previous message. Is there some kind of trust/ bank account set up for his daughter's college fund? If so could someone please get that information to me. I know this would be important to Duane as it is for Lydia's future education. When my daughter's father passed she was only 4 and we were never able to get an account set up. BUt this is important and again I know it would be to Duane as well. Just my two cents, but please anyone let me know if there is anything set up... Thank you in advance.

I met Duane @ Karaoke. I am honored that I was able to meet Duane, share the good times, and able to make several memories in just the short time I knew him. R.I.P my friend. I want to send my condolence to his daughter, family, and friends as they grieve with his passing . It is never easy losing someone you love, never let anyone tell you how long you are expected to grieve, and/or how you need to grieve. That all depends on the individual; everyone is different. I am just now taking an exs ashes to his final resting place per his final wishes he wanted to be buried at his mothers feet. That will happen this weekend. It took 4 long years to be able to finally get them ashes up to Traverse City, but it is time and I am ready. The 19th of this month is will be 4 years since he passed. So again take all the time you need to grieve. Extra prayers and hugs to his little girl. Take comfort in knowing that when you see your Daddy, brother, son, family, or friend again one day.

I only met him briefly. One day he had his motorcycle out when he lived in the trailer park my sister tiff asked me if my son Dylan could go for a ride if she held him I told her yes. Thank you for doing that Duane. You didn't really know me or my son. Dylan loved that ride. Again thank you. You were a sweet guy.

I have a tremendous amount of great memories with duane. We have been best friends for over 20 years. He was a great guy and a awesome friend. Would do anything for you. And boy I watched him change when Lydia was given to him. He loves her more than any words can ssy. Love you brother. .
